777km cycle relay (North London)

Fell short by 223km this time in our second attempt at 1000k, but taking into account the weather it was a valiant effort by all. True to our original vision to involve the olympic boroughs of East London, we were joined this year by Newham and Redbridge, courtesy of AirFootball, a brilliant sports community development programme. I have just come back from a football tournament they've been running in the East End and they are doing amazing work with young people on probation, as well as drugs and mental health groups.

sunny chilterns run 23 miles

I found out today it was the London Flora marathon (happening about 6 miles from my house) so instead I drove for an hour to Princes Risborough in the chilterns to do a training run and to be fair I think for me it was a lot more pleasureable. Ran a fast 20 mile race over the berkshire downs 2 weeks ago, but I needed a long hilly ru now I've recovered from that. Between Risboro and Wendover is spectacular as you'll see from the photos. I tried to find a swimming spot on the thames after for my first "wild swim" of the year, but the currents were too strong east of Marlow and it was too muddy and busy. I got a good tip off though for next time further west near Henley.

It's April 29th and I'm burnt!

Wye Valley Ultra 30 miles

Came 44th out of one hundred & something. got beat by a girl (quite a lot of girls actually). Learned great lesson (I'm not trying hard enough)! Too stingy & tired to download local photographers shots.

Beacon Hill to Grims Ditch & back (14.5 miles)

I'm back, and still shunning lycra(?) running tights! I just can't bring myself to do it. Please notice also...excellent luminous green shoe colour.
